Program Area: Membership

Goal 1: Recruit members from under represented groups
The Membership Committee will distribute membership brochures to all tribal colleges, Head Start programs and CC&R agencies by March 2004


Goal: 2 Recruit new student members across the state
The Membership Committee will send a student-oriented recruitment letter and brochures followed by a personal contact, to all ND institutions of higher education with early childhood related programs by March 2004

Program Area: Leadership Development

Goal 1: Create a mentoring System for NDAEYC Board members
Past President and President will implement board orientation policies and evaluate by 12/04.


Goal 2: Support Board members in carrying out Roles & Responsibilities defined in
NDAEYC Policy Manual.
The Nominations Committee will engage in personal communication with each candidate for the state board by Spring 2004 to discuss policies regarding the board position being sought.

Program Area: Professional Development

Goal 1: Build awareness of accreditation
The Accreditation Committee will place one article in each 2004 issue of Prairie Children and facilitate a workshop at the 2004 annual conference.


Goal 2: Support the ND Professional Development Plan by making education and
training available statewide.
The VP for Professional Development will utilize Prairie Children, the NDAEYC web site, and the 2004 annual conference to increase awareness of NDAEYC grants and scholarships.

Program Area: Governance

Goal 1: Provide technical assistance for chapters to bring them into compliance with
NDAEYC chapter policies
A member of the restructure team will work with each state chapter by 6/04 to review implementation of new chapter policies and give help as needed for compliance.


Goal 2: Develop a comprehensive technology system to carry out governance functions
Board officers will communicate all minutes and reports via e-mail and the web site by 8/04

Program Area: Chapter Relations

Goal 1: Provide training to state chapters in carrying out governance functions
A joint local chapter and NDAEYC President and Past President at the 2004 Conference


Goal 2: Create active statewide committees
Each board officer with a statewide committee charge will provide effective leadership by ensuring that at least two meetings (electronic or in person) are held in 2004, one to plan for the year and one to evaluate, to be summarized in the annual report to the NDAEYC board.

Program Area: Financial & Business Administration

Goal 1: Create a staffed NDAEYC office to serve as a central point of contact for
NDAEYC business
An ad hoc committee of current and past board members will develop a job descript for a staff position to present to the full NDAEYC Board by March 2004. A budget proposal to accommodate staffing will be developed by the Treasurer, VP for Fiscal Matters and the Finance Committee by the 2004 summer retreat.


Goal 2: Diversity revenue generating activities
The VP for Fiscal Matters will work with the Grants Committee to write one Grant for a special project for 8/4

Program Area: Marketing & Public Relations

Goal 1: Build relationships with public officials and key collaborative partners
By 6/04 the Public Relations and Advocacy Committees will develop a data base of federal and state elected officials and collaborative partners, to be updated within 2 weeks following elections 11/04.


Goal 2: Develop the NDAEYC web site to increase the range of services and resources
available
The VP for Public Relations will work with the president to maintain and update the web site monthly.

Program Area: Public Policy

Goal 1: Increase members' knowledge about the legislative process
By 8/04 the Public Policy and Advocacy Committees will develop a user-friendly delivery medium to inform members at the local level about the legislative process.


Goal 2: Heighten public awareness of Early Childhood issues that affect North Dakota
The VP's for Public Policy * Public Relations will organize training in working with the print media at the annual fall conference and in three local communities by 11/04
